Glen Powell, the Maverick star who has become a popular choice among fans to play Scott Summers / Cyclops. Powell addressed the fancasts in a recent interview with Variety, admitting that he had "no idea what people are talking about."

"Dude, are you Cyclops?" everyone asked before Comic-Con. No, I'm not. Nobody has contacted me. I don't even have contact information for Marvel, so I have no idea what everyone is talking about."

The reporter then suggested that if Powell isn't Cyclops, he and Top Gun: Maverick co-star Miles Teller may star in their own spinoff, to which Powell said, "I believe that's more plausible."

Powell later responded to the interview on Twitter, saying that he was "simply perplexed" about the fancasting.

The X-Men have yet to truly bloom in the MCU, other from a few blink-and-you'll-miss-it character cameos and Easter eggs, and an alternate form of Charles Xavier / Professor X (Patrick Stewart) appearing in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
